Bark Less
I want a puppy/dog! I think female is best. Best bark-less breeds?
I live in small efficientcy apt. Where do I begin to be not alone? Barking is grounds for eviction.I like the idea of a toy breed-one that is calm,in nature and docile too. Give me a clue?
Well, there is only one breed of dog that doesnt bark and that is the Basenji- but I can tell you now- they are certainly capeable of making noise. Whatever doesnt bark can still howl.
One of my favorite toy breeds is the Shih Tzu. They are popular as pets and are very loving, and playful. Their coat does require maintenance, but as long as you can get them groomed they are awesome pets.
Most dogs will bark when they are bored, so you dont want a breed that is too intelligent or active- dont go with anything like a terrier, a poodle, a papillion, or the more intelligent breeds as they will get bored quickly and are more likely to develop a barking problem.
Taking your new dog to obedience, taking it for walks every day- before work is best, and after work is good as well if you can fit two walks in.
Supplying it with toys and maybe putting the tv onto a self timer, or put the radio on so that there is human noise for the dog, will also help to keep it mentally stimulated and happy when you are at work.
