why does my female budgie scratch the nesting box saw dust?
she goes in the nest box and she will scratch the materials out also she and the male r bonded bt ma cousin saw thm breed months ago bt nwt happend this was cause it was for 5 secs
Most likely getting the box ready the way she likes it,from observing my budgies i know,they are not too keen on nesting material,usually birds will carry stuff into the box as & when they need it.This adjusting of things in the box to suit her tastes/needs is proof she will soon lay eggs.No need for too close observation of mating rituals,best leave them to get on with it.
By the way birds do not become pregnant the way mamals do,they have an egg develop till it is ready to be laid & then do so,the next egg follows in like manner.
