Renewable Resources To Power An Energy Ravenous Planet
The world as it is today is an energy ravenous place and it’s imperative that we be researching renewable sources of energy to supply that thirst. We also need to discover more dependable means of applying the present-day renewable energy technology that are already in place. We should all be worried about the impact that is being put on our globe and how the high cost of energy is affecting us. Regrettably a lot of energy is gone to waste each day and we need to discover ways we can be more conservative in our utilization. . Wind power has come into the vanguard as a very attainable generator of renewable energy. On one hand the farmer benefits with an increase in the price of corn. On the other hand the consumer suffers because they are going to have to pay more at the grocery store. Research has shown that prairie grass would do a better job than corn. It actually produces more energy per acre than corn. Plus you don’t have to cultivate it because it grows wild. All you have to do is harvest and process it and no fertilizer or chemicals are used.
Solar power is another sustainable energy source that we are hearing more about and seeing being utilized. You have the solar panels which convert sunlight into electricity and solar water heater to produce hot water. I recently read an article in a solar energy magazine about a family that installed a solar energy system for their home. They lived in Seattle. Of all the place in the world to put up a solar installation. Believe or not they had a respectable payback. The payback figures for the system were impressive even for a mostly overcast area like this.
Solar power offers the chance for people to take charge of their own energy independence and self-sufficiency. The control of power can be decentralized. Think about it, there hasn’t been a lot of money spent on the research and development so costs remain high and the cause doesn’t advance. Large corporations want to protect their profits and unfortunately it almost seems as though they’d do anything to make that happen.
We all know that oil isn’t going to last forever. If we don’t start doing something about it now than when. A new energy plan needs to be set in place. One that is sustainable and long lasting. We need to look to future generations and how it is going to benefit them. Do your part in helping to make renewable sources of energy a bigger reality today.
