Cat Doors – How Would You Feel if You Couldn’t Get Outside?

You may have heard of this, of pets and their owners having attuned daily rhythms. They wake up almost around the same time, snuggle up close when watching television, sit quietly when the owner is updating her Facebook status. You can even call this amazing. These pets are better than just potty trained. They don’t scratch furniture even when bored. They don’t get bored staying in the house all day. Time to stop dreaming, time to wake up to reality. You can’t keep you cat holed up in your house for days on end. You’re going to need cat doors so they can do what they want. Otherwise, indoors, they’ll also do as they please.

Potty accidents – yes, cats can do that, deliberately

Sure, it’s convenient to be a cat indoors due to the pet feeder that’s always full and releases food as scheduled, because a potty station is nearby, but what if the cat gets bored? So even though the potty station is just there, expect them to pee at the base of the couch, in your laundry basket, on your study table, and into the exhaust fan of your computer.

The claws that mark the territory – the cat’s territory

You can probably start a list of scratch things – curtains, shelves, the couch, chairs, and so on. If you collect items of value or have paintings on your wall, be prepared to see them scratched up. Mother was right when she said to always keep the house clean – don’t leave soiled dishes on the table or even on the sink, keep catsup bottles tightly capped, don’t leave fragile items on the table; if you have a bored cat, you’ll be reminded of all these. It’s possible your cat is just weird, or maybe there’s nothing else to do indoors.

Shelf climbing and dropping books from shelves

You should consider yourself fortunate if only drop from your shelves. You may have some expensive or valuable mementos that could get knocked over. We tend to keep these things on our shelves, which a cat might just climb up on especially when they’re bored. Cats want to explore, and although some cats explore to find a nice snug-fit space between books, some will just keep climbing and dropping things.

When you’re home – you’re the butler

When you’re home, you constantly have to get up and drop your YM chat, pause from watching some HD film, and put that book down. That’s because your cat expects you to do things for him – like open the door. If you don’t’ let your pet out, you could end up with annoying meowing for hours on end – and toppled over items. Oh and later, when the cat is done doing what it likes outdoors – it will bug you to let it in, by meowing over and over, again.

Because you deserve some relief from the trouble your own cat can cause, it’s highly advised that you look into cat doors to see what fits your home and your pet
